I'm Broken. But I'm Still A Dad

The Broken Dad is a place I created during divorce and the early days of co-parenting, to put the thoughts and feelings I didn’t know what else to do with.

The Broken Dad is a place I created during a time when my life was changing in ways I didn’t feel ready for.

It’s shaped by my own experiences of divorce and the fear and uncertainty that come with learning how to co-parent. I created The Broken Dad in real time. I didn’t build it to offer answers or advice. I built it because I needed somewhere to put the thoughts and feelings I didn’t know what else to do with.

What you’ll find here are moments from inside that process... guilt, sadness, love, confusion, and the quiet fear of getting things wrong. I don’t share my name here out of respect for my wife, my soon-to-be ex-wife (as of today in January 2026), and my children, and to protect their privacy while I work through this openly and honestly.

Writing them down really helps me carry them, and sharing them helps me remember I’m not the only one who feels this way.

If any of it resonates with you, I’m glad you’re here. If it doesn’t, that’s okay too.

This place exists first and foremost so I can be honest about what this season of being a dad really feels like...
